The 2007 KAM Award Winners

Congratulations to the 2007 KAM Awards winners! It looks like Jackson Dunkley ran away with most of the vote out of Ogden, Utah. Jackson won Singer of the Year and KJ of the Year. Teazer’s won Karaoke Place of the Year, and guess who KJ’s there? Jackson!

“I want to say thank you to Karaoke Addiction Magazine for the support and contribution of Karaoke.” Jackson wrote in his excited email response to the announcement of his awards.

“I keep asking myself, "Are you sure I won?" There are so many great karaoke KJ's across this nation. I can think of a many that I thought were going to win. I have to thank my wonderful group of karaoke junkies that come to my shows.”

Jackson began hosting karaoke in September of 1984. He said that no one else in his area knew what karaoke was at that time. “Well, since then it has been a great ride. I've been through nine (karaoke) machines and I now use a laptop.”

Jackson went on to describe his commitment to his karaoke library, “I have every disc from every major karaoke disc company out there today, except for Chartbuster and I'm working on that now.”

“Thank you everyone for your votes and your support of karaoke. I'm looking forward to another 20 years of doing something that I love to do,” Jackson said.

However popular he is, Jackson didn’t run away with all of the 2007 KAM Awards. The Website of the Year went to Star Sounds of Gainesville, Florida with the site www.starsoundskaraoke.com. Star Sounds is owned by Randy Highsmith.

"I would like to thank everyone who took time to vote for Star Sounds and I am glad people have found our website to be informative and worth vis- iting. We are honored and humbled by your vote," Highsmith said. Randy also started “Karaoke for the Cure” in Florida. “Karaoke for the Cure” is a karaoke contest that was created as fundraiser for cancer.
